Gardena 330 Classic Hand Cylinder Lawnmower
Quiet, economical and environmentally-friendly, Gardena cylinder mowers are also easy to use: The cutting cylinder and bottom blade move without contact, so mowing is accomplished with less noise and less physical effort. Large wheels give good mobility and the cuttting height can be adjusted in four steps between 12mm and 42mm. The 330 Classic is already an extremely compact machine compared to most electric and petrol mowers but when you have finished for the day, the handle can be folded down to save extra space while in storage. Speedy delivery from Tooled-up. The mower was easy to assemble and doesn’t take up much space when storing. The first cut was through long grass. I set the blades on the highest setting and the mower coped fine. It is not heavy or hard to push around. It doesn’t come with a grass box but otherwise a well made product.
Really good
Nice and easy to assemble and easy to use. Great speedy delivery from Tooled-up. Would be better if it came with the grass collector, but it’s not a deal breaker as it’s available separately.
This mower is exactly what I wanted, quiet, smooth, effective & not too heavy to carry through the house. The width is great for an irregularly shaped grass area. Simple design, but well designed, I love the way there is some give in the handles when you go round corners, plenty of cutting height options. I just mowed my lawn & it was a pleasure.
Detailed Review: Received detailed and timely despatch updates from Tooled-up. Delivered on time. 5***** Classic Cylinder Lawnmower 330 Advertised Features >: >Simply Perfect Mowing Not so perfect unless you have dry even grass growth and a perfectly flat leveled lawn. 3*** >Flexible and Lightweight Yes 5***** >Easy Cutting Height Adjustment Yes 5***** >Convenient Transport Yes 5***** >Space-saving Storage DO NOT use the folding handle feature if you wish to prolong the life of mower. Anyways it takes way less storage space than most rotary mowers. 4**** Upgraded Orange Nut for folding handle bar junction. 4**** Dislikes: Difficult to mow steadily and continuously unlike advertised in videos if grass growth dense and on uneven lawn. Difficult to mow tall, thick, dew wet or dense clumps of short grass. Need to use back and forth push and jerk motions to mow thick clumps of grass as wheels do not have enough grip so keep slipping, stopping and cylinder stops turning leaving clumps of uncut grass. Difficult to clean grass clippings from insides of mower that may clog or jam cylinder and wheels unless you hose it down after every use. Don't forget to dry before storing away. Better to mow more often and leave short fine grass clippings on the lawn to fertilise naturally than to use it with it's fiddly grass catcher. Hope to return the Grass Catcher. I may still have to use my rotary electric mower at it's tallest cutting height of 70mm for first spring cut. Max mowing height of 42mm is too short for first spring cut and during peak growing season unless you mow at least twice a week. May never mow at 12mm cutting height! The orange nut at junction of handle bar folding has been upgraded with a steel nut inside it. While this helps to prevent the problem in older models of plastic thread being stripped, it still comes with a problem. Gardena forgot to increase the length of the non-standard M7 coach bolt. As a result, now when the Orange nut is loosened and the handle folded, it is impossible to fasten the nut again as the bolt is too short for the steel nut thread to get a grip on the bolt thread. So DO NOT fold the handle like EVER! Tips: Those that are used to older heavier push mowers will love this lightweight and easily manoeuvrable push mower. Users new to push mower may take some time, practice and patience to get used to using it satisfactorily. Since the Classic 330 mower doesn't come in the Comfort model version, I decided to make some modifications by slipping some grips onto the handle bar, matching Gardena's colours. The grips look the part and look more fab & original than the comfort grip design by Gardena. Conclusion: If you can learn to work around the above cons then all in all, it's a good quality, lightweight, silent, easily manoeuvrable push mower that does not shred the grass leaves and tips leaving the lawn less stressed after mowing.
Best Mower Ever. I was skeptical about ordering this reel mower after reading reviews and understanding some obvious design flaws. But having read through some reviews that pointed out some problems and other useful reviews with workarounds to fix those issues I decided to give it a try and ordered this from Tooled-up. Received timely despatch updates and delivered on time. The most common and glaring issue with this mower was that of the Orange Nut to hold the handle bar whose plastic thread would get stripped due to obvious pressure and movement being applied when using the mower. Some reviewers posted useful workarounds online with pictures that were helpful for example like using a wing nut or 8mm knob in place of the damaged Orange plastic nut. Imagine my pleasant surprise when I opened the box and noticed that the Orange Plastic Nut design is now upgraded to hold a steel nut inside it. So don't be put off by old reviews citing this flaw as it has now been fixed by Gardena by upgrading the Orange Nut Design. This seemed to be the only issue pointed out by most reviewers until now. Since the Classic 330 mower doesn't come in the Comfort model version, I decided to make some modifications by slipping some grips onto the handle bar, matching Gardena's colours. The grips look the part just like some original design by Gardena. It's an amazing well built mower and performs well provided it is cleaned and maintained after use. It's lightweight, noiseless and ecological. Watched a few videos online on how to dismantle the wheels to clean the mower internally. Also going to order a cylinder mower blade sharpener to keep the mower blades in optimum sharpness. I am all set for mowing pleasure next year.
