DeWalt's Flexvolt system has been improved even further with the new Flexvolt High Power range. These brushless 54v cordless tools deliver performance comparable to corded tools, but they run off Flexvolt batteries which are compatible not only with the rest of the 54v Flexvolt range, but also with DeWalt's 18v XR platform, meaning you can power a huge range of tools from just one battery. The DCG418 is a cordless Flexvolt High Power angle grinder which is suitable for 125mm discs. It has an electronic brake and clutch for user safety, a comfortable overmoulded rubber grip and mesh screens over the air intake vents to protect the internal components against dust and debris. Battery AH Explained
The best way to describe battery amp hour is that this is effectively the size of your fuel tank, the more amp hours your battery has then the longer the battery will last between charges. More amp hours does not increase the power of a given tool.
Battery Voltage Explained
A tool with a higher voltage than another is a bit like choosing an engine in a car, the higher voltage will generally mean higher power & performance. As with cars though a bigger engine does not always translate to better performance so it is important to compare the specifications of tools at different voltages between different manufacturers.
DeWalt Flexvolt
DeWalt 54v Flexvolt is the new DeWalt dual voltage system. A 54v Tool can only use 54v batteries, however your new DeWalt 54v Flexvolt battery is fully compatible with all DeWalt 18v Li-ion Power Tools as it is capable of stepping into 18v mode for this purpose.
So upgrading to 54v means you can still make use of your 18v power tool range. 54v batteries are currently available in:
6ah (18v mode) / 2ah (54v mode)
9ah (18v mode) / 3ah (54v mode)
12ah (18v mode) / 4ah (54v mode)
The DeWalt Flexvolt system opens the door to types of tool becoming available in cordless that would never have been considered before such as Table Saws.

Used the machine 3 or 4 times. Then it stopped working. Was told by an official Dewalt repairer that it needs a new switch, which is approx £180, almost the price of a new machine! Useless! It is literally useless
