APO (apochromatic) lenses such as this Leica 90mm f/2 utilise anomalous partial dispersion glass to effectively suppress chromatic aberrations throughout the entire aperture range. This leads to superior colour-accuracy, clarity, and sharpness. Individual lens elements have also been applied with multi-layer coatings to suppress damaging surface reflections, flaring, and ghosting. To reduce spherical aberrations and image-distortion for a sharp, clean image from edge to edge - one aspherical element is employed.
