Makita DRT50 18v LXT Cordless Brushless Plunge Router and Trimmer Kit
The DRT50 is powered by an 18v Li-ion battery from Makita's LXT series, which is mounted on the top of the machine for optimum balance and control. Like the RT0700C, the tool has an aluminium housing and base, contributing to an overall weight of 2.1kg for easy handling. It is equipped with a variable speed control dial (10,000 – 30,000) RPM) to suit the speed of the required application, as well as electronic speed control to maintain constant speed under load and a soft start circuit for smoother start-ups. The DRT50 is equiped with an efficient Brushless Motor for up to 50% longer run time, increased power, and speed, as well as longer over all tool life. Features and Benefits Specifications

Battery Voltage Explained
A tool with a higher voltage than another is a bit like choosing an engine in a car, the higher voltage will generally mean higher power & performance. As with cars though a bigger engine does not always translate to better performance so it is important to compare the specifications of tools at different voltages between different manufacturers.
Battery AH Explained
The best way to describe battery amp hour is that this is effectively the size of your fuel tank, the more amp hours your battery has then the longer the battery will last between charges. More amp hours does not increase the power of a given tool.
