These rings, combined with the APD element, let the lens create pleasing bokeh effects. This lens also includes eight aperture blades for an enhanced depth of field. It has a manually operated focus that enables the photographers to focus in close proximity along with 0.16x magnification. The lens front and back lens caps are included for protection from accidental impacts and scratches.

The Laowa Lens comes built-in with a smooth trans focus technology to take the photography to the next level. This lens has an optical design with the apodization element (filtering technique). The APD element works just like the ND filter and turns thicker towards the edge. It allows a slow reduction in light transmission so that a soft and beautiful out-of-focus rendition (bokeh effect) can be created. The APD element works with the stepless 14-blade aperture. This makes the Laowa lens suitable for videographers as they can focus on the subject rather than the background.

9 F-stop and 14 T-stop aperture blades

According to the photography location, the amount of light to be entered in the camera lens is determined. The Venus Optics Laowa Lens is built-in with a dual aperture ring for an enhanced photographic experience. It includes 9 F-stop aperture blades. These blades determine the depth of field as well as the amount of light entering the lens during photography. This lens also includes stepless 14 T-stop aperture blades. These blades, when combined with the apodization element, enable the lens to produce natural, pleasing, and soft bokeh effects. Both the aperture rings can be manually set according to the current requirement.

67 mm filter thread

The Venus Optics Laowa STF Lens has a 67 mm filter thread attached at the front. This filter thread allows the users to attach different accessories like a lens hood and filter for improved photography. Since the filter thread measures 67 mm, users have to use a similar sized filter so that it is not visible in the clicked photos. The basic purpose of this filter thread is to improve the quality of the images. This filter thread also acts as a protective layer against moisture, thumb print, and dust for the camera lens.
