Boston is far from both Jamaica and England geographically, but local boys Westbound Train have created a musical shortcut to both. Trafficking in a deeply soulful brand of ska, Westbound Train have found a languid sweet spot where the snap of English two-tone and lilting island rhythms comfortably co-mingle like wind currents. COME AND GET IT is far from the average one-note ska revival. Songs like “Ain’t Gonna Be Easy” and “So Many Things a Man Can Say” are as heartfelt and accomplished as Motown originals.
